Priestly ordination of Fr. Gregory Post in the United States

Ordained by Archbishop Lefebvre on August 28, 1972, Fr. Gregory Post is the first priest ordained in the Society of Saint Pius X to celebrate his golden jubilee. This came on Sunday, August 28, 2022.

“Archbishop Lefebvre looked hopefully to the United State as a potential source of vocations. Faced with the devastation of modernism, this country could boast a strong resistance from Catholic Tradition.”

“On December 29, 1970, a young Carmelite from California, Gregory Post, wrote to Archbishop Lefebvre. His application to the seminary was accepted, in Autumn 1971, he came to Rue de la Vignettaz in Fribourg – the first house of formation of the Society of St. Pius X, before the foundation of the Ecône seminary.”

“In August 1972, Archbishop Lefebvre was in the United States at Powers Lake with Fr. Nelson where he celebrated a Pontifical Mass for one thousand pilgrims at the Our Lady of the Prairies. There ordained Fr. Post on August 28.”

Bishop Tissier de Mallerais, The Biography of Marcel Lefebvre (Angelus Press 2004), pgs. 447 & 452.

Throughout these 50 years, Fr. Post has exercised his ministry in the United State in various priories: California, Arizona, Missouri, Idaho, Texas, New York, Oregon, and finally in Kentucky.
