Vatican: First broadcast of the Angelus Sunday

Source: FSSPX News

Sixty years ago, at noon on August 15, 1954, Pope Pius XII, publicly recited the Angelus at Castel Gandolfo, before the microphones of the Vatican Radio. It is from this date that the pope began regular addresses to the faithful from the window of the papal apartments. This is a tradition that all his successors have faithfully followed.

To commemorate this anniversary, the original recording of this first Angelus was posted on the official website for the cause of canonizing Pius XII. This document was provided by Vatican Radio from the sound archives of the pope. (Source: Vatican Radio - DICI No. 300 of 09/12/14)
