The ACIM’s Appeal for the Philippines

Quelle: FSSPX News

The Philippines again and always are struck by natural disasters! Magnitude 7 earthquakes shook the island of Mindanao on November 17 then on December 2, 2023, followed by several aftershocks of the higher magnitude 6.

The Catholic Association of Nurses and Doctors (ACIM) has organized an annual international medical mission in the Philippines for 16 years. This “Rosa Mystica” mission tries to bring medical care and material aid to the poorest of the poor, in these regions where natural disasters aggravate endemic poverty.

This work of mercy accompanies the missionary work of priests of the Society of Saint Pius X.

The earthquakes and floods of these last few days affected General Santos City, Butuan City, Surigao City, and Cantugas: the places visited by the most recent Rosa Mystica missions. The patients of these missions receive aftercare from the permanent staff of the ACIM all year long.

The homes of our patients were badly damaged by the earthquakes. Government aid is minimal. These families, already quite impoverished, will not have the means to rebuild their poor hovels.

The floods destroyed the vegetable gardens that the ACIM had been permitted to create last year in the aboriginal village of the Mamanwas in Cantugas in order to provide for their subsistence. It is a substantial help which disappeared in the flood surges...

“He opens to himself the favorable ear of God, he who does not close his own to the entreaties of the poor,” we are reminded by St. Peter Chrysologus, whose feast day is December 4.

It is thanks to your generosity that the ACIM will be able to carry on with these works of mercy!

The Rosa Mystica Mission only lives with the donations of its benefactors.
