Ireland's Prime Minister Leo Varadkar

Two members of the Irish government have all-out attacked the positions of the Church on family and birth control, only two short weeks before the pope’s visit to the Isle of the Saints.

The Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has declared that he will speak to Pope Francis about the equality of rights between homo-parental families and traditional families during the upcoming World Meeting of Families that will be held in Dublin from August 21 to 26, 2018.

When questioned as to what he is going to say to Pope Francis, Leo Varadkar declared on August 7, 2018, that he will express “our view as a society and as a government that families come in all sorts of different forms and that includes families led by same-sex parents.”

As for the Minister of Health, Simon Harris, he attacked the Church’s teaching on birth control on August 5, 2018, declaring that religion “will not determine health and social policy in our country anymore.”
