On November 1, the feast of All Saints, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Society of Saint Pius X by His Excellency Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, the rector of the seminary proceeded with the solemn blessing of the new altar Cross.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the rector, Fr. de Lassus, delivered a speech explaining the importance of the mystery of the Cross of Our Lord, and commenting on these words of our founder: “The Crucifix is the carved love, love living on the Cross…The Cross should always be before your eyes. May the desire to attend, to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass be what you hold most dear, what puts in your heart, in your soul, that balm which makes all the small difficulties that you may encounter … May all of this disappear in the face of the joy you have in uniting yourselves with Our Lord Jesus Christ ”(Archbishop Lefebvre, September 14, 1975).
The image was then unveiled, to the singing of the hymn Vexilla Regis, followed by the solemn blessing, which according to the Roman Ritual includes a preface and several prayers, accompanied by a sprinkling of holy water and incense.
The solemn Mass of the day was celebrated by Fr. Albamonte, assisted by Fr. Luis María Canale as deacon, and Fr. Joaquín Cortés (District Superior) as sub-deacon. Fathers Albamonte and Canale were among the first priests from South America to enter the Society, and immediately participated in the apostolate at the seminary.
