An 11-year-old Christian child was beaten to death by his Muslim employer on July 11, 2019, in Faisalabad, in northeastern Pakistan. According to the Catholic news agency AsiaNews, the child had asked his employer for a loan of 180 rupees, or one euro, for expenses necessary for the survival of his family. The owner subsequently harassed the child in order to be reimbursed.
The young worker then returned home, borrowed 150 rupees from his mother and then returned to his workplace—a garbage dump—to pay off his debt and resign. Furious, the employer and his brother hit him on the head with iron bars. The child died right in front of his mother.
According to L'Osservatore Romano, who has also related this sinister incident, the perpetrators are still at large.
