In this academic year 2020-2021, 16 priests have been ordained for the Society of Saint Pius X.
In the Northern Hemisphere
Bishop Bernard Fellay ordained 3 priests (2 American and 1 Irish), on the feast of the Sacred Heart on June 11, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Dillwyn, Virginia, United States, as well as 6 deacons.
Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais ordained 5 priests (1 Czech, 2 German, 1 Austrian, and 1 Lithuanian), as well as 2 deacons, on June 26 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Seminary in Zaitzkofen, Germany.
Bishop Fellay ordained 2 priests (1 French and 1 Swiss) at the St. Pius X Seminary in Ecône, Switzerland, on July 1 (and not June 29, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic), as well as 8 deacons.
In the Southern Hemisphere
Bishop Fellay ordained 3 priests (1 Argentinian, 1 Brazilian, and 1 Guatemalan), and 2 deacons, at the Our Lady Co-Redemptrix Seminary in La Reja, Argentina, November 21, 2020.
Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta ordained 3 priests (2 Filipinos and 1 Kenyan) from the Holy Cross Seminary of Goulburn, Australia, on December 5, 2020, in Bredell, South Africa (due to the pandemic). This is the second time that priestly ordinations have been held in South Africa, following the ordination of priests of South African origin in 1989.
We must deplore the loss of one of the two Filipino priests ordained this year, Fr. Daniel Yagan, was called to God on June 7, six months after his ordination.
As of July 1, 2021, the priestly society founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (1905-1991) has 3 bishops and 687 priests.
