Russia has decided to relaunch its pro-family policy through a series of incentives, by means of bonuses offered to couples expecting a first or a second child. The President of the Federation, Vladimir Putin, also wants, upon the occasion of a revision of the Constitution, to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman. Enough to make the supporters of the corruption of morals scream.

The Duma, the Russian parliament, has given concrete expression to a commitment that Vladimir Putin made in his speech at the beginning of 2020 to the elected representatives of the Russian Federation. For families who will have a first child this year, 2020, the new measures provide a check for the equivalent to 6,732 euros, an amount 10 times higher than the average salary of a Russian. Upon the birth of a second child, the Federation will make a grant equivalent to 8,900 euros.

“This is one of the most important initiatives within the framework of the implementation of the presidential agenda,” said Viacheslav Volodin, the president of the Duma.

It must be said that there is no time left for useless actions: with a fertility rate below two births per woman, Russia is facing a worrying birth problem. Geographically the largest country in the world, Russia is the ninth in demographic terms, behind Bangladesh.

In his speech at the beginning of the year, the Russian president admitted that the Federation was going through a “complicated demographic period,” with negative and “troubling” forecasts.

Also, Vladimir Putin hopes, through these new incentive measures in favor of a higher birth rate, “to guarantee a stable demographic growth between now and the midway point of the 2020 decade.”

Finally, in order to better protect the family, the Russian head of state declared, on February 13, 2020, his desire to revise the Constitution by excluding any possibility of a union between persons of the same sex: “marriage is a union between a man and a woman,” the master of the Kremlin reminded. Don’t say you weren’t warned!
