ACIM Looking for Doctors for Its Mission in the Philippines from March 5 to 12, 2023
The next Rosa Mystica medical mission, organized for 16 years by ACIM (Catholic Association of Nurses, Doctors and Health Personnel), will take place from March 5 to 12, 2023, in six villages in the Alabel and Malapatan highlands of the province of Sarangani, and those of Malita in the province of Davao Occidental.
These mountains lie east of the large town of General Santos where ACIM maintains a dispensary next to the Rosa Mystica Church served by Fr. Timothy Pfeiffer (FSSPX), where the Rosa Mystica Mission has already been held several times.
Until the summer of 2022 the surrounding mountainous regions were inaccessible, as they had been in the hands of communists and Islamic terrorists for decades. On September 21, 2022 a pacification treaty was signed with the rebels, who surrendered to the government.
Yolly, permanent nurse of ACIM-Asia (Philippine branch of ACIM), and mainspring of the Rosa Mystica mission since 2007, had gone to visit one of these villages in 1998 as a school nurse, in order to rescue a child who, like all his tribe, was dying of hunger because of a terrible drought and especially the isolation of those areas the rebels were holding hostage.
She was not able to return there because of the insecurity that reigned there. Twenty-five years later, the promise she made to the inhabitants of the village to return with medicine to treat them, will come true.
Unfortunately, two doctors who had agreed to participate in the mission had to give up for health or family reasons. We will need one or two more doctors, in order to come more effectively to the aid of these populations who have been cut off for a long time from the world, living without care and in extreme poverty because of the war which has raged for years.
We thank all the friends and benefactors of the mission who pray for it and allow foreign and Filipino volunteers to bring some relief to these underprivileged populations.
