The School Commission for the city of Vienna (Austria) ordered the Saudi School of Vienna to close at the end of the 2015 school year, since it “furnished no list of its teachers or of its directors,” as the law requires. This private school was founded about ten years ago by Saudi Arabia. “The school is also undergoing an investigation for suspicions of anti-Semite teachings, and we have given them until the end of the year to provide us with a certified translation of all their pedagogical material,” stated a spokesman for the School Council of Vienna, Matias Meissner.

This Arabian-speaking establishment that has 160 students between 6 and 18, offers an education that is essentially based on the Saudi school curriculum, but also apparently targets so-called dissident Islamic branches.

As Austria is launching the hunt for jihadist recruiters on Austrian soil, at least 142 Austrians, including minors, have left to fight in Iraq and Syria, according to the Ministry of the Interior. The Austrian government also wishes to impose a standardized version of the Koran in German, plans a bill forbidding religious organizations to be financed by foreign funds.
