The agenda of Benedict XVI is being drawn up for the month of May. His first visit will be to Italy. The pope has to go to Bari in Apulia for the Italian Eucharistic Congress organized for May 21 to 29, 2005.

Before this visit, Benedict XVI will take possession of the basilica of St. John Lateran, the cathedral of Rome, on Saturday May 7 at 5:00 pm, said Mgr. Mauro Parmeggiani, head of pastoral care for young people in the diocese of Rome.

It is also planned that the new pope will ordain priests of the diocese of Rome, of which he is bishop, in St. Peter’s basilica on Pentecost Sunday, May 15 at 9:00 am. He will also celebrate Corpus Christi on May 26 and may, as his predecessor, preside on this occasion over the procession from Saint John Lateran to Saint Mary Major. Finally, Benedict XVI will celebrate Mass at 6:00 pm on June 29 for the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul.
