In this injustice pushed to the extreme—the murder of an innocent—there is still hope. It looks to be discouraging, from a human point of view. But before God, we must keep our confidence. It is when everything seems lost that He often deigns to show that salvation comes from Him alone. So let us pray for Vincent Lambert.

But we must continue to fight against the detractors of the natural law, against those who represent a justice that disgraces itself by wanting to keep this name, because it is nothing but the arbitrariness of a Promethean human will which is believes itself to be God. So the death penalty is abolished for men who are seriously guilty on one side, but is reintroduced for innocent and defenseless men.

The anesthetized consciousness of the self-righteous of our hypocritical society, which forbids corporal punishment for children, has no hesitation in starving to death one of those “little ones” of whom Our Lord speaks and who should be among those that we protect with the most attention. Such crimes will infallibly bring upon their authors the judgment predicted in the Gospel: “Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry, and you gave me not to eat: I was thirsty, and you gave me not to drink” (Mt 25: 41-42).
