Catholic Radio Network Now Covers the Entire Territory of Burkina Faso
After nearly 10 years of research and “trial and error”, the Catholic radio network of Burkina (RCB) successfully completed its first satellite connection on February 12, 2018.
The initiative came from the Episcopal Commission of Social Communications of Burkina Faso. As of February 12, 2018, 14 radio stations are now available with eight hours of programs every day everywhere in the country’s 13 regions.
This progress was made possible by the satellite connection technology known as Vsat. “Our primary goal is above all to announce the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” declared Fr. Laurent Balma, coordinator of the Catholic radio network of Burkina, during the press conference on the day the stations were inaugurated. He explained:
While 14 radio stations receive and broadcast the satellite feed in frequency modulation, the main radio continues to offer programs in streaming on our website www.rcburkina.org.
The project was financed by the Episcopal Conference of Italy with a contribution of 133 million Swiss francs (about $142 million).
