The choir of young singers at Saint-Joseph has recorded a CD called Alléluia, which offers a collection of the most beautiful pieces of sacred music, including the Missa brevis of Palestrina, Byrd’s Ave verum, Buxtehude’s Alleluia, Mozart’s Ave verum, Schubert’s Ave Maria, Franck’s Dextera Domini, Gounod’s O salutaris hostia, Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Saint-Saëns’ Ave Maria…
Directed by Patrick Thomas and accompanied on the organ by Philippe Pernet, this choir is made up of students at the school of Saint-Joseph-des-Carmes, in Montreal-de-l’Aude. They interpret these polyphonic selections from the last five centuries with an admirably fresh sound, with one goal in mind: “to help raise souls and hearts to the good God.”
