France: Benediction of the chapel at Nancy

Source: FSSPX News

On February 8, Fr. de Cacqueray, superior of the district of France, blessed the new chapel at Nancy, dedicated to the Sacred Heart. More than 300 people assisted at the ceremony, followed by the blessing of the candles and the Mass of the Purification.

Bishop Williamson blessed the first stone on July 4, 1999, and it took no less than five years to bring the building work to a successful conclusion.

This chapel is the daughter of the one which Fr. Mouraux opened in 1978. A short time before Our Lord called him home, on March 29, 1995, he placed it in the hands of the Society of St. Pius X. Fr. de Cacqueray paid a fitting and vibrant homage to him during his sermon.

Afterwards, mulled wine was served, followed by a meal served in the town hall, bringing together the faithful of Lorraine. - A photographic report of this day is available on our Gallery.

Some finishing touches remain to be done: paving of the floor, molding on the vaults above the altar, manufacture of pews, a staircase for the choir loft, and later a sacristy and a large catechism and conference hall.

Gifts payable to the order of the “Fraternité Saint-Pie X Nancy”may be addressed to Etoile du Matin, 57230 Eguelshardt, France.
