Benedict XVI will go to France from September 12 to 15, said religious news agency Imedia, quoting “Vatican sources.” The pope will stop in Paris where he will meet with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and will go to Lourdes on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin.

Questioned by AFP, the Vatican spokesman said it was still “too early” to give information on the pope’s visit, and that information would be made known “a month or two” before the scheduled date.

Thus hypotheses are made according to which the pope might celebrate Mass in Paris in the morning of Saturday, September 13, and might visit the Collège des Bernardins, a medieval building in the 5th arrondissement, which belongs to the diocese of Paris and was recently restored. It claims to be a “place of research and debate on the Church and society.” Benedict XVI might also “go to give an address under the cupola” of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences of which he has been a member since January 13, 1992.

In the evening of September 13, Benedict XVI should fly to the shrine of Lourdes where he might celebrate an outdoor Mass and another Mass for the sick, on the day of the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. The pope might also meet with all the French bishops. (Sources: Apic/Imedia/AFP)
