The General Chapter of the SSPX Comes to an End
On Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., the fourth General Chapter of the Society of St. Pius X came to an end.
On July 11, this Chapter elected Fr. Davide Pagliarani as Superior General for 12 years, and Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta and Fr. Christian Bouchacourt as his First and Second General Assistants.
On July 20, two General Coucillors were elected to serve on the Council of the Superior General; they are Bishop Bernard Fellay, former Superior General (1994-2018), and Fr. Franz Schmidberger, former Superior General (1982-1994) and current director of the Herz Jesu Seminary in Zaitzkofen (Germany).
Before going their separate ways after these two weeks of work, the 41 Chapter members attended Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the seminary chapel, then processed to Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre’s tomb, where they entrusted the Chapter’s resolutions to the venerated Founder of the Society of St. Pius X.
