On September 21, 2019, around 8,000 people—2,500 more than last year—demonstrated against abortion and euthanasia during the 15th March for Life in Berlin.

Five Catholic bishops and representatives of the Evangelical Lutheran Church were among the participants. In a speech on the sidelines of the event, Bishop Stefan Oster of Passau (south-east) described as “dreadful” the 100,000 abortions committed each year in Germany. He emphasized the “right to life of every human being from conception to natural death,” and recalled that “the group of people most mortally threatened in our society today is the unborn child with disabilities...Where is the protest against this terrible discrimination against a particular group?”

As in previous years, the “March for Life” was disrupted by a few hundred furious counter-demonstrators, shouting insults and whistling to make a racket, in order drown out the cry of the innocent, who die under the scalpel and the lancet of their executioners in white coats.
