On May 21, 2019, Brazil was consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in the presence of the president of the republic and several bishops.

The act of consecration was signed by the head of the Brazilian state, Jair Bolosonaro, in the presence of several members of the government and members of the Catholic hierarchy, before a statue of the Virgin of Fatima which will henceforth remain in a place of honor in the presidential palace.

In Italy, the Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini, during the course of the European electoral campaign proceeded to make a similar, very informal consecration. On May 18, raising his eyes—rosary in hand—towards a statue of the Virgin Mary situated atop the Milan cathedral, the head of the government stated: “I entrust Italy, my life, and your lives to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who, I am sure, will bring us to victory.”

On July 13, 1917, at Fatima, the Virgin requested that Russia be explicitly consecrated to her Immaculate Heart.

For over a century, Mary’s request has had a most specific reverberation with the numerous heads of state who have been determined to honor the Virgin by consecrating their countries to her.
