On February 3rd Il Corriere della Sera reported that on February 2nd the Italian police arrested four alleged healers: a 71 year old biologist and three accomplices, for fraudulently selling at a high price tap water in the guise of healing waters from Lourdes, Fatima and Medjugorje. The biologist, stopped at Ancona on the Adriatic coast, was selling so-called miraculous water at prices ranging from 100 to 200 euros. Nearly 4,000 bottles were seized by the police and, according to the Milan daily, some 500 sick people from all over Italy had acquired some of the “precious liquid” in Milan, Venice and Bari.
