La Reja Seminary: Tonsure, Minors Orders, and Subdiaconate 2023
On the morning of October 14, 2023, His Excellence Mgr. Alfonso de Galarreta celebrated an ordination Mass, in the course of which he conferred the tonsure, minor orders, and subdiaconate on seminarians.
The ceremony took place before a large assembly, since in addition to the many families of seminarians, numerous faithful traveled—not only from La Reja and the neighboring areas, but from nearly the whole district—drawn there by the pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Luján which took place the following day, Sunday, October 15.
On this occasion, 17 seminarians received orders:
--6 second-year seminarians received the tonsure: 2 Mexicans, an Argentinian, a Chilean, a Nicaraguan, and a Nigerian
--6 third-year seminarians received the first minor orders of porter and lector: 3 Mexicans, 2 Argentinians, and an Australian;
--2 fourth-year seminarians received the second minor orders of exorcist and acolyte: both are Argentinians;
--lastly, 3 fifth-year seminarians received the major order of the subdiaconate: 2 Australians and an Argentinian.
At the end of this beautiful day full of divine blessings, we give thanks to God, and we ask of all our readers to continue to pray for the increase and perseverance of priestly vocations.
