Latin America Under Increasing Pressure to Recognize Unnatural Unions

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR), the judicial branch of the Organization of American States (OAS), is putting pressure on 23 member countries that have not yet done so to recognize “marriage between persons of the same sex."

On January 9, 2018, in answer to a request from Costa Rica, a member State of the OAS, the Court demanded the recognition of the “right to homosexual marriage”, that ensures the same legal protection as marriage.

Juan Puertas, a lawyer and President of the Asociación Antonin Scalia in Peru, told Fides that “as a consequence of the Court’s decision, marriage will cease to be an institution”; “we are renouncing true law,” he explained, “because law is a science based on reality and not on sentiments.”

Currently the member countries of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights are: Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Dominica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Suriname.

The international community has the power today to impose this subversion of the moral order and an institutionalized promotion of sin. A new form of totalitarianism is weaving its web across the entire planet.
