This year it will be the Archbishop of the territorial prelature of Loretto, site of the famous Italian Marian sanctuary, who will preach the Roman Curia’s annual lenten retreat. Mgr. Angelo Comastri will have the responsibility of preaching before John Paul II from 9th to 15th March 2003. At 59 years of age, the Archbishop of Loretto since 1996 could be one of the members of the next promotion of cardinals. Like John Paul II, the prelate is passionately devoted to the young and to Our Lady. Named head of the national vocations center for Italy in 1994, he also holds the posts of vice-president of the Pontifical Academy of the Immaculate, president of the episcopal conference of the Marches region and president of the Committee for the National Eucharistic Congresses.
