On November 1, 2019, not content to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the founding of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, the Italian District commemorated the 40th anniversary of the erection of the San Carlo de Montalenghe Priory, opened by Archbishop Lefebvre in 1979.

In order to mark the event as it should be, the day began with a solemn Mass celebrated by the Superior General, Fr. Davide Pagliarani, assisted by the District Superior, Fr. Louis Sentagne and Fr. Aldo Rossi, the current prior of Montalenghe.

In his homily, the Superior General dwelt on the figure of the saint, who “is the one who knows and loves our Lord intimately - the sanctification of souls, the love of God, this is the only objective at which the Church must aim.” A reflection that makes perfect sense as the crisis seems to be accelerating within the hierarchy of the Church.

After lunch followed by a musical recreation, the Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X gave a conference during which he reviewed the recent events related to the Synod on the Amazon. Beyond the sacrileges that made the headlines, we must be concerned about the proliferation of announcements and initiatives where the issues are always posed in a purely temporal and human way, losing sight of the supernatural dimension of the actions of the Church.

The day ended with benediction with the Blessed Sacrament, in thanksgiving for the forty years of the peaceful and radiant presence of the Society in Montalenghe, located north of Turin.
