Month of the Sacred Heart: Heart of Jesus, Burning Furnace of Charity

The immediate object of other feasts is not precisely the love of Christ. But in the feast of the Heart of Jesus, the love with which this most holy heart burns is the immediate object of the feast, in union with His heart; so much so that we can say in truth that Christ’s love for men is properly and immediately celebrated in this feast.

No one could consider the nature of this feast attentively without immediately seeing that under the name and title of the Heart of Jesus, it is really the feast of the love of Jesus. For that is the essence of the Heart of Jesus.
