The Christian cemetery of Boubana in Tangier, in northern Morocco, was the victim of repeated acts of vandalism in April.  According to the Spanish media, reprinted by the French news agency APIC on April 19, 62 tombs were profaned.  According to the initial findings of the Moroccan police investigations, this was the activity of youngsters in search of jewels or valuable objects, who were taking advantage of the absence of their guardians.

The Christian cemetery of Boubana, which covers more than 6 hectares [15 acres], includes the gravesites of many Spanish, French and Italian Catholics.  It will celebrate its hundredth anniversary in 2016.  Since the independence of Morocco, it has been placed under the protection of the municipality, which is in charge of maintaining and protecting it.
