In front of the assembly, "Granpa Raphaël", retired chief, received the Last Rites.

In recent months, priests of the Society of St. Pius X visited the faithful of Vanuatu (in Oceania) : from December 27, 2016 to January 7, 2017, and from February 26 to March 3, 2017.

Fr. Louis Bockholtz tells about the first two missions of the year in this archipelago off the northeast coast of New Caledonia, in the Coral Sea, in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.

The Beginning of the Year

“We had six baptisms, a wedding, and a great celebration for the new year 2017! While the men worked hard on the woodwork, the women prepared an oratory for a statue of Our Lady that we brought, and took special care of the children.”

Our Chapel

“Thanks to many long days of labor, we were able to finish the sanctuary flooring and install a real communion rail.”

Water is Life

“For several months now, the village where our chapel is situated no longer has water. The pipes that come up from the river are damaged, and it takes a half an hour to walk to the river to bring back a little water. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to set up one rain water tank and we hope to buy more.”

Fr. Alain-Marc Nély’s Visit

“Fr. Alain-Marc Nély, Second Assistant to the Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X, braved the humid heat and all the insects of the forest for four days in March to come celebrate the Ash Wednesday ceremony.”

Come Join a Mission!

“All are welcome to come help us on a mission. We need your skills! Here are the dates of the upcoming missions:

September 24 to October 6, 2017, and January 2018.”

Vanuatu is a South Pacific Ocean nation made up of roughly 80 islands that stretch 800 miles.
