Ordination to the Diaconate at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Seminary in Zaitzkofen

On Saturday, June 8, Bishop Bernard Fellay ordained three deacons at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Seminary in Zaitzkofen, Germany: 1 German, 1 Austrian, and 1 Pole. A total of 18 priests were present and a large number of faithful came from abroad for these ordinations.

In his homily, the celebrant emphasized the link of the diaconate to the Holy Spirit: “Immediately before the sacramental form, the ordination text says: ‘Receive the Holy Spirit; He will be your strength to resist the devil and his temptations. In the name of the Lord.’ The consecratory formula itself says: ‘Therefore, Lord, we beseech Thee to spread over them Thy divine Spirit, so that, strengthened by the seven gifts, they will be able to fulfill faithfully their heavenly functions.’ In fact, the deacon is appointed as the priest’s assistant in the Church to preach, to baptize, and to cooperate at the sacrifice of the Body and Blood of the Lord. Therefore, he must be adorned with all the virtues and live a life without reproach.”

This is how the Church is being renewed little by little in the German-speaking and Eastern European countries, even if the work takes more time than one would like.
