Pakistan: Muslims attack a christian high school
A Christian high school in Bannu, to the north of Pakistan, was taken by assault on January 27, 2015, by about 300 “anti-Charlie Hebdo” Muslim students armed with iron rods and sticks. The protestors demanded that the French magazine, that they consider blasphemous after the recent publications of caricatures of Mohammed, be shut down. According to the Vatican information agency Fides, that related these facts on January 30, the students forced the walls and entered into the establishment, vandalizing the buildings. Four students were wounded in the attack. The establishment has temporarily closed and the principal has decided to take additional security measures.
According to Nasir Saeed, director of the ONG Center for Legal Aid Assistance & Settlement, quoted by Fides, “it is a pity to see that, even 67 years after the founding of Pakistan, Christians are still not considered as full citizens, but as ‘allies of the West’. Every time incidents occur in the western countries, the Pakistani faithful end up being made a target. The Christians, who are already in constant fear for their lives, are becoming even more vulnerable.” - And yet the Christians, Western or not, have nothing to do with Charlie-Hebdo, the emblem of moral decadence and revolutionary atheism.
