Thinking out Vatican II, forty years later. Such is the theme of the next theological congress of the magazine SI SI NO NO which will take place on January 2, 3, 4, 2004 in Rome.

This congress sets as its goal to think out Vatican II council, far from the passions and the invectives. It is on the basis of its intention – and not on its interpretation or its application – that the council must thus be thought out. Was not this intention vitiated by the distinction between pastoral and dogma, and by the avowed will to set forth the Catholic doctrine "according to the methods and the presentation used by modern thought?" Here is the schedule for these three days :

Friday, January 2 : The council’s intention, a historical study of the counciliary praxis, at the service of a vitiated intention.

Saturday, January 3 : The council’s doctrine, a theological study of the doctrine underlying the so-called exclusively pastoral intention.

Sunday, January 4 : The recourse to Tradition. Forty years later, the modern Church in the modern world is only a Church in crisis, in a world in crisis. Recourse to Tradition is a must.
