“Rosary on the Coasts and Borders” Comes to America
After Poland, Italy, and Ireland, it is the USA's turn to follow the “Rosary on the Borders” initiative: all American Catholics are invited to recite the Rosary on December 12, 2017, feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
We are following the amazing examples of the national rosaries recently achieved in Poland, Italy and Ireland,” wrote the association behind the American version of this initiative.
One of the organizers, Patricia Lemmon, explains, “we will pray the Rosary on the Coasts and Borders on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Tuesday, December 12. The intention is: ‘to ask Our Lady to save the USA from Islamic jihad, from the denial of the Christian faith, and for an end to abortion’.”
The date was chosen for a reason: “The anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto on October 7 is also the Feast of the Holy Rosary and the date chosen by the organizers of the Polish Rosary to the Borders. So the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, victor of Lepanto, seems the ordained date for America to link with Poland,” explains Patricia Lemmon.
Canadian Catholics are also invited to join in this initiative that, unlike those in Poland and Ireland, is being organized more by committed lay people than local clergy.
