On October 26, 1977, the castle of Zaitzkofen was purchased by the St. Pius V association. It is located in Bavaria, to the south of Regensburg.

The following year, the Society’s seminary for German-speaking candidates located in the canton of Appenzell in Weissbad, Switzerland, moved there. On October 1, 1978, for the beginning of the school year, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre came to solemnly inaugurate the seminary dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Forty years later, the entire community plans to sing its song of thanksgiving for the divine blessings showered down upon this house: priestly and religious vocations for the glory of God and the honor of Holy Mother Church.

On Sunday, October 14, 2018, the seminary will celebrate its fortieth anniversary with an exceptional open house day. The program is as follows:

  • 9:00 a.m.: Conference on the history of the seminary’s foundation and development, by Fr. Franz Schmidberger, the director.
  • 10:30 a.m.: Solemn High Mass celebrated by Fr. Davide Pagliarani, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X. This will be his first trip to Zaitzkofen, and he will be accompanied by Fr. Christian Bouchacourt, Second Assistant General.
  • 2:30 p.m.: Vespers and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
