The very Catholic Spain, following the example of many European countries, is going through a serious crisis of vocations to the priesthood. Out of 66 dioceses, 28 did not have a single entry in autumn 2002. In the past 50 years, the number of seminarians in Spain has dropped from 7052 to 1797. According to the Spanish Bishops Conference, the Catholic Church can only assure its presence over the whole of Spain thanks to the service of numerous priests of advanced age. The tree is known by its fruits.
