These bells that they are trying to silence

The title of Philippe de Villiers’s last book poses a disturbing question: Les cloches sonneront-elles encore demain? (Will the bells still ring tomorrow?) (published by Albin Michel). Certainly the author is raising an alarm about the Islamization of France, but what he writes about the country concerns the whole Christian West: “France is in danger. It is high time to give the alert and to sound the alarm. Someone has to do it. It is necessary to go wake up the sexton to toll the bells. Not the death knell, because France is not dead. But the tocsin (alarm bell), so that she does not die.”

We must recognize that this Islamization of Christian nations could not happen without the effective support of a methodical laicization of these nations, leading them to deny their roots and to reject the faith of their fathers. A “quiet revolution” in Quebec, a “silent apostasy” in Europe, or the latest act that is odious and ridiculous at the same time: in a suburb of Madrid, Spain, the municipality of Móstoles does not want to hear the bells of the parish church, which reach 84 decibels when they are tolled, exceeding the 55 decibels permitted. This “serious infraction” is sanctioned by a fine of at least 16,000 euro.

The bells do not become mute suddenly; they are gagged in advance. But they will not remain mute; one day they will emit a sorrowful sound unless the nations adopt as their own prayer the Collect for the Feast of Christ the King that is celebrated on the last Sunday of October: “Almighty and everlasting God, who in Thy beloved Son, the King of the whole world, hast willed to restore all things, mercifully grant that all the kindred of the nations that are divided by the wound of sin, may be brought under the sweet yoke of His rule.”
