United States: Two Moslems file a 5 million dollar lawsuit over hindrance at prayer
In the United States, a Moslem couple has decided to sue the owners of the Empire State Building for having been “humiliated and discriminated against because of their Islamic religion.” Amina and Fahad Tirmizi are claiming “moral damages”. The Tirmizis live on Long Island in New York State. They said that they were visiting the building together last August when they suddenly noticed that it was time for their evening prayer. They stated that they found a quiet corner in which to carry out this Moslem rite. Shortly thereafter, security guards arrived and told them that they were not allowed to pray there and that they had to leave the building. They were escorted to the exit by guards. The Tirmizis value the damage done by this humiliation and discrimination at $5,000,000 (3.6 million euros).
