After the Italian, the English and the Spanish versions, as of March 8th the website is now available in French. It brings together on one platform all the information issued by various news organs of the Vatican: Osservatore Romano, Vatican Radio, VIS, and Fides. The Pontifical Council for Social Communications wanted this site so as to simplify access to information originating from the press organs of the Church, with an eye to allowing visitors to learn about universal Church news and news of particular Churches throughout the world.

According to January statistics, the site, launched in June 2011, has received an average of 8,000 to 10,000 visitors per day. It attracted up to 16,000 users during the Christmas period. The Portuguese version will soon be offered to the public.

Americans are the most frequent users and represent 27% of the visitors. In Europe, the Italians are in the lead, ahead of Germany and Spain, followed by countries like Canada, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. (Sources: Apic / imedia / radiovatican - DICI No. 252 of 03/30/12)
