Vatican: Measures taken to reform the Holy See’s media

The results of the work accomplished by the commission charged with reforming the Vatican’s media will be presented by Easter 2015. Such was its president, Lord Christ Patten’s statement at the end of this new organism’s first three-day reunion, on September 24, 2014, on Radio Vatican.

The commission is supposed to find ways to reduce the costs and render the organization of the Vatican’s media “more efficient.”

The president of the commission also recalled the need to “modernize the structures”, without, however, considering that the “old technologies” are no longer “pertinent”. He thus mentioned the short wave radio, which is “still very useful” in Africa and Asia.

For Lord Patten, the committee’s role is to guarantee that the “splendid message of the Church” can reach the “young, the poor and the other groups in the most efficient way possible.”
