Vatican: The “Ratzinger Schülerkreis” meets at Castel Gandolfo without Benedict XVI
During one of the first meeting of a « Ratzinger Schülerkreis » meeting .
In keeping with a tradition established when Joseph Ratzinger was professor of theology at Ratisbonne, Germany, a group of thirty former students—mostly Germanic—will meet from August 29 to September 2 not far from the papal residence in Castel Gandolfo.
According to remarks made by the leader of the group, Father Stephan Otto Horn, to the Catholic News Service (CNS) and published on June 25, Ratizinger’s former students will work this year on “the question of God in the setting of secularism.” Although he chose the theme for the event, Benedict XVI will not be present. The former assistant of the Pope Emeritus indicated that the latter will remain in his monastery in the heart of the Vatican Gardens for the whole summer, and therefore will not be spending holidays at Castel Gandolfo.
