United States: American Muslims will Vote for Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton.
According to a survey published on October 13, 2016, by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), more than 70% of Muslim American citizens are likely to vote for Hillary Clinton on November 8. Only 3% support the Republican candidate Donald Trump. The majority of those who participated in the survey (62%) consider the Republican Party hostile to Muslims, but only 2% think this of the Democratic Party.
This opinion seems to be shared by the terrorist group Daesh, since, in a video republished by the American information website World News Daily Report on October 14, 2016, the group’s second-in-command, Amadh Abu Makmud Al-alwani, called for Muslims to vote for Clinton, declaring that “all Muslims who will show support for . . . Trump are guilty of ‘mortal sin’.” Despite the fact that in his opinion Clinton has the “charm of a pig,” he approved the fact that the Democratic candidate is “in league” with the “allied countries of the Islamic state,” such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
In December 2015, Donald Trump, then running in the Republican Party primaries, advocated “a complete and total shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” after the murderous shooting in San Bernardino, California on December 2, 2015 in which a Muslim activist killed about fifteen people. According to Cath-info on October 15, 2016, Donald Trump has since explained that he would like to “suspend immigration from countries in which Muslim activists are active,” but did not specify whether this second statement was to replace the first.
Islam is the third largest religion in the United States. In 2016, it accounts for about 3.3 million people, which is about 1% of the country’s total population. There are 1,029 mosques in the United States, more than half of which have been built in the last 25 years.
