Pentecost 2020 Pilgrimage: For the Honor of Holy Church
The doctrinal and spiritual program for the Pentecost 2020 Pilgrimage, entitled For the Honour of Holy Church, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Society of Saint Pius X. “50 years of existence, of combat, of fidelity. How could we not thank Our Lord for having watched all this time over our bark, launched onto an agitated post-conciliar sea in the aftermath of Vatican II?” asks Fr. Pagliarani, Superior General of the Society of Saint Pius X, in the introduction.
“How,” he continues, “could we not turn towards the figure of our dear and venerated founder, Archbishop Lefebvre, to learn what he can teach us, those of us who perhaps feel the fatigue and the weariness of a long combat, those of us who never knew him or never met him in person? That is what we will do during these three days on foot. We will walk, guided by his examples, by his virtues, especially his prudence, the virtue of religion he practiced, and his perseverance.
“Archbishop Lefebvre served the Church faithfully, despite threats, promises, condemnations, criticisms, and betrayals. He was faithful until the end; he died still fighting, without having seen the victory. And we, we follow in his footsteps. This proves that he did not serve his own cause—which would have died with him—but a cause immensely greater than himself: that of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ.”
