France: Pilgrimage of Pentecost 2004
Each year the Chartres to Paris pilgrimage comes round again and each year there is a good reason for doing it. I am not talking about the joy, so justified and necessary, of meeting again in great numbers, in an extraordinary atmosphere of friendship and prayer. Neither am I talking about the magnificent demonstration of quiet strength, manifested by the processional entrance into Paris.
No, this year, I want to talk about the great celebration that we must offer to our Heavenly Mother. For 2004 is the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, by Pope Pius IX, on December 8, 1854. What a magnificent opportunity to publicly manifest our love for her, and our confidence in her. Confidence, as she is strong like a battle army set in array and hope, as she has promised: In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph.
This promise made at Fatima, we believe she will fulfill. Fatima, where, on October 11, 12 and 13 last year, an interreligious congress was held under the aegis of the Vatican and the UN! Fatima, whose sanctuary will shortly be the object of a complete reconstruction, by the side of the present one, erected in 1921. This new sanctuary will become a center where all religions will gather, to pay homage to their respective god(s) (DICI n° 85, November 22, 2003).
We can not allow this to happen, we can not let our Mother, the Mother of God be insulted, by allowing her Son to be debased, among the ranks of idols and false gods.
In honor of Our Lady, Catholics on your feet!
From Chartres to Montmartre, lets go! Ad Jesum per Mariam!
