Month of the Sacred Heart: Heart of Jesus, Abode of Justice and Love

The reason some sinners return to God and others remain far from Him is that some believe in His Justice and others do not. The reason there are heroic souls and ordinary souls, fervent souls and lukewarm souls among God’s friends, is that some believe in the Love of Jesus and others do not.

If I profoundly believe that Jesus is Love, and that He loves me with an immense love, loves me to the Passion and Death, to the Eucharist…how could I love Him coldly?

There is nothing as provocative as love, and the love of God is sovereignly provocative. We remain mediocre because we do not reflect upon the love of Jesus. No soul who thought about it could resist. And at times when we have flashes of Faith in His love, do we not admit to ourselves that the saints and the martyrs are the only reasonable ones in this world?
