Dillwyn: Ordinations to Minor Orders and the Subdiaconate - 2024

Source: FSSPX News

On the Commemoration of Our Lady of Compassion, which is celebrated on the Friday of Passion Week, Bishop Bernard Fellay gave the four Minor Orders, and the next day, the Saturday of Passion Week, he conferred the Subdiaconate.

The first Minor Orders of Porter and Lector were conferred on 13 seminarians: 11 Americans, a Nigerian, and a Japanese. The second Minor Orders of Exorcist and Acolyte were conferred on four seminarians: three Americans, including a Benedictine monk, and an Irishman.

The next day, Bishop Bernard Fellay conferred the first major order of the Subdiaconate on five seminarians: four Americans and an Australian. It is during this ceremony that the seminarians commit definitively to the service of God and the Church, and that they pronounce the vow--implicit--of chastity. This is shown by the “step” made by the seminarians to the call of the Bishop.
